Vybe for Slack
AI agents that work with your team in Slack
Vybe adds AI agents to your Slack workspace. @mention one in a channel or message it directly, and it researches, writes and gets work done across your tools, in the open where your team can see it.

What Vybe does in Slack
Vybe is where your company builds AI agents. You give each agent a job, connect the tools it needs and decide what it’s allowed to do. The Vybe app for Slack brings those agents into your workspace, so your team works with them in the channels and threads it already uses.
Work in shared channels
Agents reply where your team already talks, so everyone can see the work, add context and pick it up.
Help in direct messages
Message an agent one-to-one for research, a first draft or a quick analysis.
Act across your tools
Agents use the tools you connect in Vybe, like Google Workspace, HubSpot or Jira, with the permissions you choose.
Report on a schedule
Agents post recurring reports and updates to the channels you pick, on schedules your team sets.
In Slack, agents can read and send messages, share files, add reactions, create channels and canvases, and edit canvases and lists.
How Vybe connects to Slack
Vybe uses two kinds of app for Slack. You add the first one, and Vybe creates the others for you.
- The Vybe app
- An admin adds it once. It links your Slack workspace to your Vybe organization and comes with Vybe, a setup guide anyone in your workspace can message.
- An app for each agent
- Every agent you add to Slack gets its own app with the agent’s name and picture, so your team can @mention it like a coworker. The Vybe app creates and manages these for you: rename an agent in Vybe and Slack updates, delete it and its app is removed. If your workspace requires app approval, a Slack admin approves each agent first.
Add Vybe to Slack
You add Vybe to Slack from your Vybe account, so the button below starts with signing up. It takes about two minutes.
- 01
Sign up for Vybe
Click Add to Slack and continue with your Slack account to create a free Vybe account. Already have one? Log in instead. Only Vybe organization admins can add Vybe to Slack. If you create a new organization, that’s you.
- 02
Meet your first agent
Vybe sets up your first agent. You can change its name, picture and job at any time.
- 03
Click Add to Slack
Choose your Slack workspace, review the permissions Vybe asks for, and click Allow. If your workspace requires app approval, Slack sends the request to your Slack admins.
- 04
Invite it to channels
Pick the public channels your agent should join, or skip for now. To add it to a private channel later, type /invite @agent-name in that channel.
You’ll sign up for Vybe with your Slack account first. Free to start, no credit card required.
Already use Vybe?
An organization admin can go to Settings → Organization → General and click Add Vybe to Slack in the Slack section. Then add any agent from its Slack tab with Add to Slack. Once Vybe is connected, new agents are added to Slack automatically. Not an admin? Open an agent’s Slack tab and click Invite your Slack admin.
When agents respond
Agents only answer when someone talks to them. Here’s exactly what they respond to.
Direct messages
Send an agent a direct message and it replies. You choose who can message each agent.
@mentions and its name
In a channel the agent has joined, @mention it or address it by name, and it replies there.
Threads it’s part of
Once an agent is in a thread, it replies when a message is meant for it, may add a reaction, and stays quiet otherwise.
Nothing else
Agents don’t respond to conversations they aren’t part of, and they ignore messages from other bots.
Messages agents send on their own
Messages you set up
Ask an agent to post or send direct messages for you, like a daily summary in #sales, a reminder for a teammate or an alert when a deal closes. It sends them on the schedule or trigger you set in Vybe.
Welcome message
When Vybe is installed, the person who installed it gets a welcome message from Vybe.
Follow-ups
If an agent has an open item with you, it may check in by direct message, with buttons to mark it done, dismiss it or be reminded later.
Ideas to get started
The person who installed Vybe gets short ideas by direct message: each workday for the first week, then weekly, for up to 90 days. Reply stop suggestions to turn them off.
Account notices
If your organization runs out of credits, agents let you know in Slack.
Channels it can’t work in
If someone @mentions an agent in a channel it isn’t allowed to work in, it says so and offers to pass a message to whoever manages it.
Set up how each agent works
You control how every agent behaves in Slack. Open an agent in Vybe and go to Access → Slack.
- When it answers
- By default, an agent joins in whenever it’s addressed: by @mention, by name, or in a thread it’s part of. Turn on Only respond when @mentioned under Contact restrictions and it answers only when someone @mentions it.
- Read only
- Set the agent’s Slack access to Read only, then add it to any channel. It can read the conversation and still replies where it’s asked, but it can’t post elsewhere, send direct messages, or create or change channels, canvases or lists.
- Channels
- Under Contact restrictions, let the agent work in Any channel it’s in, Specific channels only, or No channels.
- Direct messages
- Choose who can message it: Anyone, Org members only, Org domain only, or Off.
- Tools
- In the same Access tab, choose which connected tools the agent can use and what it can do in each.
- Removing agents
- To take an agent out of a channel, open the channel’s settings and remove it under Integrations. A Slack admin can remove the Vybe app and each agent’s app in Slack from Settings & administration → Manage apps.
Your data and privacy
Here’s what Vybe does with your Slack data. Our Privacy Policy has the full details.
- What agents see
- Only conversations they’re part of: channels they’ve joined, and direct and group messages that include them. A member of a private channel has to invite an agent before it can see that channel.
- What Vybe stores
- The Slack messages and files from those conversations, and the agents’ replies, so agents keep context and can pick up where they left off. Each agent also has a log of its Slack activity in Vybe, such as who asked for something and what they asked. People with access to that agent in Vybe can see it.
- AI processing
- To reply, Vybe sends the relevant messages to the AI model provider your organization uses, such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. We don’t use your Slack data to train AI models, and we opt out of providers’ model training.
- Keeping and deleting
- Stored Slack messages are kept until you delete the agent or your Vybe organization. When someone edits or deletes a message in Slack, Vybe updates or removes its copy. Removing Vybe from Slack doesn’t delete what’s already stored. Email support@vybe.build and we’ll delete it.
- Security
- Vybe is SOC 2 Type II audited, and your data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
Good to know
AI can make mistakes
Vybe agents are powered by AI models, which can produce inaccurate or incomplete responses. Check important information, and review an agent’s work before you rely on it or share it.
Some features need a paid Slack plan
Using Vybe agents in Slack’s AI assistant panel (the app container for agents and assistants) requires a paid Slack plan.
Free to start
Vybe’s Free plan includes monthly credits, with no credit card required. Agents use credits as they work. See pricing.
